Two weeks ago, David and I made the trip back to Cleveland. This time it was for my one-month follow up. Since my appointments started as early as 7:45 AM, we decided to stay the night before. We first met with the infectious disease (ID) doctor. He went over exactly what vaccines I need when. Since my immune system was restarted with the stem cell transplant, I need to get all my childhood vaccines all over again! 🥴
After, we met again with the MS team, and then the transplant team. They both seemed to be happy with my progress. The way I’m doing now is pretty close to my baseline pre-stem cell transplant. Often, after being admitted for several weeks, it is very likely to decondition. The whole process definitely made me weaker and took its toll, but with my determination and my family’s continuous encouragement I am now one step ahead! I will continue with OT/PT for now and will continue to get stronger!
They’ve been continuously monitoring my blood work. At first weekly, now biweekly. My blood counts have been bouncing around a little bit, but overall they are heading in the right direction. Now that I am past the first month, which is the critical time, I am trying to get out more and leave my “bubble” 🫧.
Thank you to my awesome family and friends who have been visiting and keeping me company during this time! 😊
