Monday, April 22nd, marks Day 12 post transplant. My White Blood Cell count started to slowly climb these past few days just as they predicted, which means my stem cells are slowly engrafting!! My neutrophil count is still not detectable, however, give it a few more days and that should start climbing too! I know I’m making progress when I hear the word Discharge in the works.
My appetite is slowly coming back as well as my energy, however, there is still a long road ahead. This past week and a half has been a whirlwind with my counts being so low. Multiple transfusions. Constant barrage of nurses, doctors, PT, social work. Nose bleeds. Did I mention ENT needing to pack my nose since the bleeding wouldn’t stop?! That was fun!
Tonight begins the holiday of Passover, which will be bittersweet, since I won’t be with my kids to celebrate, but I’m super thankful for the opportunity I had to do this transplant. David and I are having fun educating the staff on all the Passover questions they have. The kids are in good hands with my family in New York and get to spend a lot of time with their cousins over the holiday.
